A FAMILY fun day will be fundraising for a two-year-old from Gorleston suffering from a brain tumour.

On Bank Holiday Monday the garden of the Seagulls Centre and the theatre room, Magdalen Way, will host the event, with car boot sale, raffle and cake stall.

There will also be a tombola, a penalty shoot out, stocks and an ice cream van among other entertainment.

The day runs from 11am to 3pm, with tables at the car boot sale costing £5- contact Donna on 07766 687058.

AN exhibition of local artists will be taking place in Martham this weekend.

The free exhibition will be opened by mayor Michael Jeal at St Mary’s Church on Sunday and run from 10am to 5pm alongside the Scarecrow festival. There will also be a chance to climb the church tower and take in views from the top, as well as a raffle.

THE Eden Project plant sale takes place in the grounds of St Andrew’s Church, Gorleston tomorrow 10am to noon. Refreshments will also be available, proceeds to church roof repairs.

THE Nelson Monument in Great Yarmouth will be open this weekend for guided tours.

This Grade I listed monument, right, was completed in 1819 as a tribute to Admiral Lord Nelson and stands 144ft high. The tours provide an opportunity to climb the 217 steps and experience breathtaking views – even Norwich Cathedral can be spotted on a clear day.

Trained guides are on hand to explain the monument’s construction, history and restoration as well as its links with Lord Nelson.

Tours for two people run from 10am to 3.30pm, last 30 minutes and cost £6 per person. For further information and to book a tour, contact the Nelson Museum on 01493 850698. Un-booked tours will be sold at the Monument on the day.

The 12th anniversary of the global Tai Chi healing event is being celebrated on Gorleston Cliffs opposite Bridge Road tomorrow. Come along and see the Tai Chi Qigong Centre in action as they run through their routine.

All are welcome on this special day when Tai Chi and Qigong are practised around the world at the same time. Free taster workshop and opportunity to meet the team and chat to senior instructors. Demonstration starts at 10am.
