THE countdown has begun - Broadland MG Owners' Club is inviting owners of MG and other classic and vintage cars to take part in its 19th annual Heritage Run on the May day bank holiday Monday, May 5

This year's event starts at the Lighthouse Inn, near Walcott and follows a gentle 60-mile route through the the Norfolk countryside to a surprise finish.

The actual location of the finish is a well-guarded secret, but promises to be in keeping with the spirit of the run and be well worth visiting.

Entry is open to all classic and future classic cars. Apart from MGs, previous entrants have included everything from Fords to Ferraris, and Panhards to Porsches. All entrants will receive a rally plate, tulip map, finishers' plaque, plus a bacon roll at the start, with the first car away from Walcott at 9am.

The money raised will go to local charities. Last year, the Heritage Run raised more than £3,000, with the money going to the Waveney Stardust Broadland waterway cruising for the disabled and elderly charity, the East Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association and also towards a continuous passive movement machine to be used at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Entry costs just £17 per car and you can download an entry form from www.broadland mgoc.co.uk

Alternatively, email broadlandmgoc @yahoo.co.uk or call Alan or Margaret Whitwood on 01692 651333. The closing date for entries is Friday, April 11.
