Horses taking to the Great Yarmouth Racecourse is no unusual sight, with regular race meets taking place in the arena.

However, it is far less frequent that you see the nags performing stunts with knights upon their backs.

For one day only in July though, this is exactly what frequenters to the course will see, with specifically trained stunt horses Cavalry of Heroes topping the bill of the Great Yarmouth Family Fun Day.

The event, now in its fourth year, is organised Caister father James Sinclair in memory of his son Dylan.

The youngster died in March 2015, following a five year battle with a rare condition called late infantile battens disease and after his death, Mr Sinclair organised a fun day in his memory.

The event raises money for the Battens Disease Family Association and continues to grow, with this year’s event taking place on Saturday, July 14.

Mr Sinclair has dedicated himself to pulling together an eclectic lineup of attractions for the family to enjoy, which this year will also include the Dragon Shields reenactment team, the Fool Hardy Circus and a BMX stunt show.

He said: “When I organised the first one in 2015, I honestly thought it would be a one off, but it has become something people really look forward to .

“I’m particularly excited about the stunt horses for this year - the person who puts on the show was an extra in Game of Thrones so there may well be something of a theme there.”

Mr Sinclair is now hoping to attract businesses to sponsor the event to allow it to continue its growth and get bigger and better each year.

He said: “It could be as little as pledging a volunteer to help on the day or donating raffle prizes, but the more support the event gets, the better it is.

“Something as little as raffle prizes can make such a difference to the amount of money we raise for the charity which is very close to my heart.”
