Tickets went on sale this week for the popular Lardal Kantori Norwegian Christmas Carol concert being held at Great Yarmouth Minster in November.
Having performed at the church annually since 2002 as part of the Great Yarmouth Christmas Fayre weekend, the Norwegian choir has built up a strong following with people travelling from as far away as Peterborough to hear them perform a mix of traditional Christmas carols in Norwegian and English.
The annual trip to Yarmouth from their homes in the south east region of Norway is equally looked forward to by the choir members themselves. Conductor Kjell Håkestad said: “We really enjoy our trips to Great Yarmouth and the wonderful acoustics of the Minster makes singing there a fantastic experience.”
The 35-member group also enjoy visiting town centre shops, cafes and pubs during their visit to the town for the Christmas Fayre weekend and can also be seen in their traditional costumes taking part on the civic procession to the Minster as part of the Christmas Fayre closing ceremony on the Sunday afternoon.
The Lardal Kantori Concert is at the Minster on Saturday, November 21 at 7.30pm. The concert includes a buffet sponsored by local electricians Bowers and Barr at the end of the concert where the audience can meet the choir members.
Advance tickets are available for £8 from Palmers Department Store in the Market Place, The Priory Centre, Priory Plain and Anglia Copy and Print on Deneside, Yarmouth or online from the events page at www.gytcp.co.uk. Tickets on the door will be £10.
