More acts - including The Pretenders - have been unveiled for this year's Latitude festival in Suffolk.

British band White Lies, who opened the Obelisk Arena at last year's event, will be returning with a higher billing this July.

Their debut album, To Lose My Life, topped the UK album chart this year in the first week of its release, making them the first British band to top the charts this year, and they went on to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Also signed up for the festival are renowned rock stalwarts The Pretenders, whose blend of punky new wave and pop melodies have led to chart success since the late seventies. The prolific songwriting talent of Chrissie Hynde has produced such classic hits as Don't Get Me Wrong, and I'll Stand By You.

Their performance will bring together new material from their recent album, Break Up The Concrete, and past hits for what organisers promise will be a special Friday night set.

Flashguns, a young indie British rock band, inspired by the likes of Talking Heads and The Cure, will also take to the stage on the Friday, while Irish upstarts The Chakras will be opening up the Arena on Saturday afternoon.

These new additions join Obelisk headliners Pet Shop Boys and iconic disco queen Grace Jones at Latitude, which takes place from July 16-19, at Henham Park Estate, near Southwold.
