A TOP international female soloist has been brought in at the last minute for the final orchestral concert of the SeaChange Arts Trust season at the Hippodrome on Sunday, March 15.

Tanja Becker-Bender, who is much in demand around the world, is to take the place of Ernst Kovacic who has been forced to cancel his tour because of illness. Tanja will now perform with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.

SeaChange chief executive Joe Mackintosh said: “It's not the easiest thing for the orchestral management to find someone else to take over. They had to find someone at short notice who had the Beethoven Violin concerto in their repertoire. We're delighted that Tanja was available and should provide a dazzling performance for us to round off what was has been a very successful series”

Tickets have been selling well for the final concert which will see the Berlin Symphony Orchestra under Lothar Zagrosek performing Haydn's “Surprise” and Mendelssohn's “Italian” Symphonies as well as the Beethoven work.

Tanja Becker-Bender showed early musical success with a series of top prizes at the international competitions around the world which led to her performing as a soloist under the baton of conductors including Kurt Masur, and with a number of international orchestras. She has just released a new CD of works by Paganini on the Hyperion label and further recordings are under way.

At the Hippodrome she will play on a violin made in the Italian city of Cremona in 1728) which is on loan through the Instrument Fund of the German Music Foundation.

Tickets still available at £25.50 and £27.50 and concessions available. This is the last of the Symphonies by the Sea concert series organised by the Great Yarmouth Seachange Trust until the autumn.
