I am writing to the Mercury regarding the picture of the floods and a car and a tow truck in Southtown Road that was printed on May 19.

This car belonged to my father Frank Harper. My mother, brother and myself were in the car. We broke down on Southtown Road as the water was rising.

The tow truck then took us back via Stafford Road when that broke down.

We were taken in by some kind person where we had to stay for four days.

We were rescued by an army “Duck” and taken to the Two Bears Hotel. The police then took us home to Halvergate. I was five at the time.
