Wroughton Juniors - GYM memory 3101

Following on from the recent photo of the Herman Junior football team I can go back another 10 years from David Wilkinson’s side of 1960/61.

In season 1950/51, Wroughton Juniors won the Great Yarmouth Junior Schools Cup beating Edward Worlledge 2-0 in the final at the old Gorleston Rec with myself scoring both goals. I also remember the team being presented with the cup again during assembly by headmaster Mr Marshall. The photo was taken on the school playing field adjacent to the old railway embankment - now the route of the bypass. I know most of the names of squad and teachers. Back Row (l to r): Mr Cushing, Mr Goodrich, David Stephen, Alfred Boggis, Terry Johnson, Edmund Earle, Peter Dye, Mr Marshall (headmaster), Mr Stubbs. Middle Row: David Westgate, Terry Hall, David Etheridge, Alan Williams (capt), Michael Palmer, Robert Read, John Willis. Front Row: Roger Cunningham, Robert Clarke, John Stafford, Keith Whiley (goalkeeper), Peter King, Roger Philpot.
