The delivery of 43 beach huts to line a Great Yarmouth promenade is expected soon.

A stretch of promenade close to the Venetian Waterways will see dozens of new holiday huts added to the area facing a 230m-wide patch of beach.

Work will also see the conversion of the amenity facilities at the North Drive Pavilion, which will be for the use of beach hut owners and occupiers only.

Plans for the 43 huts were announced last March. The £450,000 scheme followed the success of the 70 beach huts built on Gorleston's lower prom.

Groundworks are complete at the Yarmouth site, but the area remains fenced off while the council waits for the beach huts to be delivered.

A council spokesperson said: “The council is hoping the beach huts will be delivered very soon.”

At the start of the development in January, the huts were expected to be available to buy and rent by May.

At the time of writing, the Visit Great Yarmouth website contains no information about prices for the beach huts in Great Yarmouth. However, the Gorleston cabins are listed for an annual hire of £2,019.50.
