A Paralympic legend is set to open a new shop raising funds for a charity close to her heart.

Two-time Paralympic swimming gold medalist Jessica-Jane Applegate will take part in the grand opening of a new RSPCA charity shop branch on Gorleston High Street this Saturday.

When she is not training, Miss Applegate is a huge animal lover. She is a qualified and registered microchip implanter and pet scanner and has fostered rescue dogs.

Miss Applegate, who will be representing Great Britain at this year's World Championships, said: "I’m really excited and honoured to have been invited to open the brand new RSPCA shop.

“I am passionate about supporting all animals in any way.

"I hope that this will be a successful venture and the local community will join us on the opening day to have a good look around at the beginning of our journey together."
