Councillors are looking at future uses of a factory site in Great Yarmouth once its current owner leaves for larger premises.

Snack Creations' factory on Pasteur Road will close for good in 2026, with its owners saying the site is too small to cope with the company's growth.

Councillor Daniel Candon - Great Yarmouth Borough Council's portfolio holder for economic development and growth - said: "It’s obviously sad to hear that this business will eventually move to another location.

"We have been in discussions with the company to offer any support we can, as we do with all businesses, and we are aware that the DWP is also providing advice and assistance for employees. We do remain on hand to give any further help needed.

"The council will be horizon scanning for what opportunities may follow for the site after the move, and how these may take shape."

Over the years, the factory has produced thousands of tonnes of pasta products and, more recently, specialised in snack pellet products, including wheat crunchies and lentil curls.

Snack Creations will be relocating to a new site on the outskirts of Norwich on the Broadland Business Park, with operations expected to begin towards the end of 2025.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed Great Yarmouth's semolina mill on Southtown Road - known as the 'semolina towers' - will stay in the town as it continues to be part of the Pasta Foods business and remains separate from Snack Creations.
